Dia de los Muertos + Portraiture

Grade 4
Dia de los Muertos
A celebration of life on Nov 1 and 2.
We will be creating our own Sugar Skulls, a symbol of Day of the Dead, in Latino traditions.
A great video: Dia de los Muertos
Many of you have experience 'The Book of Life' and it talks about this tradition in Hispanic culture.

Each fourth grade may be doing a bit of a different process for their sugar skulls creation....
But first.. we draw!

Portraits!
A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person.

Henri Rousseau . Gustav Klimt

Henri Rousseau...
Video - Mati and Dada

Inspired by the beautiful combinations of plants... we will work to finish our neon tiger backgrounds with some line, color, and variety of plant creations.
Grade 5 will be coming to a close with this project.  Great work!

Gustav Klimt's Tree of Life...
A beautiful painting ... and we will focus on our spiral lines.. and 'drawing with paint'.
A mixed media project of printing and painting.
Klimt's inspiration is definitely found in our creations!
