Abstract Wire Sculpture Creations.

Sculptures are known to tell the story of our world.  To make historic definition.
Sculptures are amazing... and can really take on a life of it's own.

Form and space, reality, emotion, and perfect beauty are the interests of artists in all centuries.

And this is where we come in... we will be looking at a variety of abstract sculptures found in public parks as installations around the world and we will look at the focus of line to create our sculptures.....

ultimately we will be following this process:.... but with a twist of course.

Great use for old panty hose and an exciting new 3D surface for kids to paint on. Needs parental/teacher involvement, as if that's a bad thing! Click through for more ideas. snibblesandbits.b...

Gustav Klimt - Keith Haring - Dinosaurs!

1- As Kandinsky ends, we begin learning about Gustav Klimt and his tree of life.
We will be working on printing & visual texture painting for the background and then moving into the creation of our own Klimt Inspired Trees.  Working with line, size, variety, and color.
Example from Deep Space Sparkle

 2- Keith Haring!
A wild guy that began a movement of motion based on simple lines and solid shapes.
2nd grade is going to be awesome at this:
Haring moved to New York City in 1980 when he was just 20 years old to attend college at the School of Visual Arts. This was an exciting time to live in New York City because a lot of exciting things were happening in the art world. Haring was excited to be a part of it all, but because he didn't have a lot of money, he could not go see artwork he loved in the big museums and galleries. Haring thought this was unfair and believed that art should belong to everyone and that it should be free to the public. This inspired Haring to begin creating his artwork places where everyone could see, like the subway and on sides of building. Soon, people began to take notice of his fun, cartoony style and he became one of the most famous artists of his time!
Then we work in some practice.
Actions & Emotion & Movement with the body.
Followed with a Team Activity.
We begin by choosing a team member to be the model.  They will hold the pose.  They must be VERY STILL as we draw around them.  Mrs. Tonn will highlight the countour line in black marker.  THEN, we choose a color from the back counter to fill them in. Silhouette will be our word: a dark shape and outline of someone visible on a lighter background.
Fill the object in with that color, entirely.
Last, we will need to have a steady hand to outline the solid figure.
A great site is the Keith Haring Take Over.

5- Dinosaurs

We are learning how to construct our dinosaurs out of clay, what parts are important, and how to ensure our Dino makes it through all of the steps!- Create. Kiln. Glaze. Kiln. Display!
