Transdigital Artmaking: Going from 2D drawings to simple animated GIFs

At the elementary level, we have been using iPads to turn 2D pencil drawings into digital paintings using Brushes Redux. Once the Digital paintings are done, we add a few more layers to the image to animate the artwork, finishing with each student’s GIF. This is going to be a hands-on session, giving you the experience needed to go back into your classroom and start working!

Hi!  I'm Valerie.....

I am a K-12 art teacher with 15 years of experience integrating technology into the arts. I have enjoyed scaffolding digital projects at the elementary level in order to build a digital art program within my building using simple apps like Do Ink and Brushes Redux we have been able to develop green screen videos and animations into their experiences as young as 1st grade! I also teach secondary and have experience using Adobe Premiere Pro for creative video making at the secondary level! These projects can be adapted from elementary to secondary or even incorporated into a student creativity center in a classroom.
